It is found in low lands up to 1500 meters from both coastal slopes of Mexico through Central and South America. it prefers humid regions and tends to avoid closed forest. Generally, it is not migratory. Length: 46 to 56 cm Wingspan: 79 to 94 cm Lifespan: up to 14 years in captivity
